Laparoscopy This is a minimally invasive technique performed under general anaesthesia. A telescope called a laparoscope is introduced directly into the peritoneal cavity usually via the umbilicus (“belly button”) and distended with carbon dioxide. Further instruments and laser fibres can be introduced to treat abnormalities such as tumours, cysts, adhesions and endometriosis. |
